SPACE AGE BACHELOR PAD MUSIC
This site has great mix tapes that play virtually all the best music you have not yet discovered. There is something about watching the tape turn that makes the music more enjoyable. (The last time I used my tape deck it munched about 30 seconds of my now morbidly curious Phil Spector Christmas album—Splicing that tape was also trickier than I recalled.) The vintage tape colors and graphics are eye candy with tunes that are ear candy making for the perfect late night surfing soundtrack, now go itch your virtual tapedeck scratch.

I like these kids tees at Little Red Head. The designs are great and the colors are modern. The Australian designer is inspired by fabric patterns and mimics the sewn applique technique with the silk screen process and sews on button eyes to complete the trompe de l’oueil. It’s all good at Little Red Head and keeping it planet friendly is all part of the great designs. Bigcartel stores are awesome when you find one like Little Red Head!

This is a new design that I’m working on for a kids tee to add to the orangeheat line. I had my 2 and some change year old son Jett add some color and I like the results. There is plenty to learn from the young guns but this is a great lesson in painting outside the lines. Why is that so hard to do as an adult and so easy to do as a child? I think I’ll do a Jett version as a full color heat transfer, why not it’s kids apparel right? I can just feel the fun it was painting this home-run-hitter.
This slugger is swinging for the fences and breaking outta the box!

I bought this LP and was happy with all the tracks! The lyrics are magic and tease you into a bigger story of your own creation. The music compliments the lyrics with a gentle acoustic and electric vibrato touch. I think the acoustic guitar is also doing double duty as a drum, not sure? The artwork seems a perfect match for the music with it’s simple lines and earthy colors. You get a free download version of the tunes also but this one needs the needle for the crackle n pop and sonic joy will be yours.

I remember the temptation of drawing on a new pair of Chuck Taylor’s, the white canvas crying out for something more. These pink bad boys from Houston, TX, are pretty sweet! Excellent stuff here. I really like the retraced Star, very nice touch, blending with the existing art, while enhancing simultaneously. The rubber soles perimeter was always a favorite section to draw on, as the ink gets soaked up nicely and welcomely. Doddle your shoes and enjoy. Kids can’t have all the fun; besides, what else are you going to do in that 1930s-era soup queue?

People love their skin art, and here is another way to show it off. The scar tissue lights up the needle’s path under a steady stream of radiation and makes for a haunting image. Would you like to frame your X-rayed tattoo? I think I would, but so far I remain tattoo-less.
These bad boys would look clinically modern backlit in your living room as objets d’ art. Who wants to start this business with me? Any takers, movers and shakers? What do they do with all the old X-rays of broken bones anyway?

I really have nothing but questions about these strange doodles that appear on the web. Who are these people doodling with letters and why do they do this? Drawing with letters is kinda ugly but tricky I guess. Are you a letter doodler? Please tell me what is the skinny with this habit, and why do these drawing always appear in the comments sections where they somehow avoid the delete key? Drawing with letters, should I write with pictures like an ancient cave-dweller, or should I use a fork instead of a spoon? Paint by numbers meet Draw with letters!

—Teruhisa Kitahara

I like to find art hiding in cracks and nooks, like this poster from my lost pet flyers collection. This is the only flyer featuring a drawing of the beloved pet, rather than a photo. The colors and text are quite artful, and J.J looks like a tricky little birdy if there ever was one, with one eye cocked over his shoulder, ready to take fast flight, even with his puny T-Rex wings.
So if you happen to be in the Laurel Canyon area and see a long-tailed green bird speaking some words, please call the number and catch him if you can!

I am posting this painting by the African-American visionary artist Reverend Johnnie Swearingen of the first president George Washington, in honor of our soon to be elected first African-American president Barack Obama. I hope you find your way to the voting booth tomorrow and cast a ballot in this historic election. Happy voting and see you in a new America! I am thrilled to cast my first ballot as a freshly minted American for such a remarkable candidate for the highest office in the land.
